Gaussian Mirrors from LASER COMPONENTS Improve Beam Quality in High-Power Laser Systems

ID: 736108

(PresseBox) - LASER COMPONENTS presents its advanced?Gaussian mirrors?(Variable Reflectivity Mirrors, VRMs), engineered to enhance beam quality and efficiency in demanding laser applications.?

Precise Mode Control for Superior Beam Quality

These mirrors feature a reflectivity profile that follows a Gaussian distribution, with higher reflectivity at the center and lower reflectivity toward the edges. This enables effective mode control within the resonator, resulting in stable operation, and improved far-field performance compared to conventional mirrors with uniform reflectivity.?

Optimized Performance for Demanding Laser Applications

Gaussian mirrors are ideally suited as output couplers in stable resonators, where they reduce beam divergence and increase light intensity at high-pulse energies, e.g. for medical or range finding applications. In frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser systems they are used to achieve greater pump efficiency.??

The in-house manufactured thin-film design is based on interference in dielectric layers. It is optimized for minimal wavefront distortion and phase shift, and ensures consistent optical performance of the laser beam as well as high LIDT. LASER COMPONENTS uses special substrates in various geometries - including plano, plano-convex, and meniscus -, adapted to specific customer requirements. Meniscus lenseswith an integrated wedge are the best choice to avoid back reflections of the Gaussian mirrors that can occur despite an AR coatings.?

With more than 40 years of expertise in optical coatings, LASER COMPONENTS is among the few specialized manufacturers capable of producing high-quality customer-specific Gaussian mirrors for industrial and scientific applications.?
