Beam me up, Scotty!
Successful start of the initiative Navigation Global on the Hockenheimring
The initiative Navigation Global can look back on a successful start to the European Tour which took place on the Hockenheimring. Despite partially huge stumping blocks during the preparation phase of the lateral thinker workshop, something completely new and exciting for all those involved was initiated on 06 October. This was achieved thanks to courageous pioneers from the industry and the start of the first project of the initiative, a new solution from the navigation sector.
(firmenpresse) - Navigation Global initiates projects from ideas and existing solutions of solution providers from the navigation sector. This platform with its Europe-wide contacts to small and medium solution providers links them to the matching contacts of the initiative in the industry as well as in research and science. On the other hand, the consortium Global Novations forms the frame to support direct and interdisciplinary exchange. The strategical partner multiBO then puts the ideas to market.
The prelude of the initiative was the intersectoral lateral workshop at the Hockenheimring. During the live demonstration „Porsche vs. eCar“ the first project of the initiative was started and has already proved that the initiative works. The solution was used there for the first time and is currently being prepared for the market by the strategical partner multiBO. Now the solution is to be put to market and the search for investors has already begun.
„We had huge problems during the preparation phase,“ admits Patrizia Vivani, founder of the initiative Navigation Global. “The pooling of adequate and nonetheless complete different participants was extremely extensive and time consuming. In addition, some people and institutions tried everything they could to stop the launch of this initiative. But all this did was confirm that our project was the right thing to do. And the first event delivered even more proof. Thanks to the active participation of our courageous pioneers true lateral thinking not only worked during our workshop but exceeded our expectations: we start with a vision.”
Even at the start of the preparation phase the feedback of everybody who came in contact with the project was positive throughout. There was not a single person who did not realise the huge potential of the initiative. Nonetheless, a lot of people did not have the determination required to actually get involved despite the positive feedback. Only a small percentage was prepared to do so. “We were simply curious of what to expect,” explains Christoph Rösch, CEO of HS Genion. His company made an eCar available for the gaming and presented the new prototype for the new “Stromer” City Car. “We had no expectations whatsoever going into the workshop. We considered it as an experiment and just jumped in at the deep end.
And it was worth it. Vivani adds: “A lot of courage is needed to try something new and unknown without knowing whether something will come from it. A lot of people talk about willingness and participation but in the end they are not prepared to take the risk and stick to their usual paths. That makes us appreciate the willingness of the pioneers in attendance even more to start from scratch in our first workshop without having a concrete result or given goal in mind.”
The idea behind the initiative is to bridge the gap between small and middle-sized solution providers and the industry from diverse branches. These should be brought together in order to create new solutions for new or existing visions in active collaboration. In the process the first lateral thinker workshops even gave the name vision a whole new meaning. “In planning, all of us just think of the next possible step,” said Heidi Kupke, member of the board at Silverstroke AG, getting straight to the point. „Product optimisation, solutions which you believe that the world needs. Why don’t we look a few steps further ahead. I, for example, would like to be beamed.“ Kupke, however, does not see the vision of beaming as the goal but as the start from which further planning for the future should commence.
„A lot of crazy and new approaches were discussed in this first workshop,” said Patrizia Vivani, founder of the initative. “But that was the goal. I think that we all got the ball rolling. This good start gives us a good starting point in which we can now involve further courageous pioneers and create our joint-future. We are moving at a very high level which is above anything we knew before. Now we need to carry on and to add the next stations and components according to the main focus to the project. Elsewhere, it was a huge advantage that the number of participants was manageable because this kind of workshop should not have a driver. Here, every single participant must take responsibility and get actively involved.” In order to maintain the high standards of the initiative which have been set, only a limited amount of participants will be invited and allowed to attend the next workshops.
The result of the first workshop is made clear by a common vision of all participants: The common and continuous interaction of the various branches along with active and global collaboration on common projects. This vision will form the basis for the following workshops which will consist of members of the core team, meaning the pioneers of the first workshop, and constantly changing experts from other branches who either join themselves or are represented by core members. “It is an exciting project which will constantly develop,” said Pedro Schmid of Nokia Siemens Networks. “Especially visionaries, pioneers and doers are needed here. Participants from intersectoral areas, who bring their experience, ideas and partial solutions inspire each other and can convert “Mobility” visions into concrete solutions.”
In future, workshop pioneers will function as chairmen at all workshops. Who and how many depends on the respective main focus (i.e. mobile, health, tourism) because each chairman will represent his/her own branch. One exception is the strategic partner MultiBo.
In their role as permanent and active process guides they will co-supervise lateral thinker workshops on a regular basis. In detail the following steps will see the gathered material processed and evaluated by the initiators before it is then distributed to the participants. The next stops, projects and contents will be planned under active participation of the pioneers only after this has happened.
