Less electronics, more efficiency: laser-based wear marking is the answer to the Euro 7 standard
(PresseBox) - The Euro 7 standard requires a reduction in brake wear, which entails verifiable wear throughout the product s life cycle. Workshops must therefore be able to assess the condition of the brake disc. The current approach is too complex and expensive, so OEMs and suppliers are looking for alternatives suitable for everyday use.
The focus is increasingly on coated grey cast iron or even ceramic brake discs. PM10 particulate emissions are up to 90% lower with carbon-ceramic brake discs than with grey cast iron, and wear and particle toxicity are also very low. In addition, coated brake discs can be laser-marked at different depths, providing a practical solution for compliance with the Euro 7 standard.
Visible, easy to maintain and cost-efficient
Trotec offers an integration laser for this application, producing markings with a depth of 90 ?m ? 5 ?m. Engraving takes less than six seconds, with a roughness below 10 ?m providing a clear visual inspection and a simple way of checking the condition.
There is no need for time-consuming dismantling or sensor technology.
Application example:
