High speed dispenser manages just another task

(PresseBox) - The well-known high-speed dispenser ??Scorpion?" from Art Robbins Instruments has been optimized to execute an additional task: Nucleic Acid Normalization. In cooperation with the company Avrok Biosciences it was established that the Scorpion can do volumetric transfers and nucleic acid normalization with a CV less than 5 % accompanied by a standard deviation of 0.11.

To optimize the Scorpion for this new task, the instrument comes with a new software which takes the user step by step through the set-up enabling also new users to quickly learn how to operate the system. The normalization feature of the instrument operates smoothly, necessitating the loading of a csv-file onto the device. Users are required to specify the desired final volume and concentration, prompting the software to compute the necessary volumes of the sample and diluent.

The system can transfer volumes from 1 ?l to 1000 ?l with a single-channel pipette on a tripod arm structure reaching every position inside the instrument chamber.

The 6-position deck of the system can be equipped with all plates in SLAS/ANSI format such as PCR plates for normalization, racks for various tube sizes 50 ml, 15 ml and 1,5 ml are available, pipette tip racks and an adapter for Linbro-plates. In addition, specialized racks for microscopy slides can be used occupying two positions of the deck. Customized racks are possible. Please contact us for more information.

The system is very robust and maintenance-free allowing it to use it as reliable device for production purposes in the laboratory.
