On behalf a European customer country, Rheinmetall has been commissioned to supply a three-digit number of L52 gun barrel systems for the Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH 2000) self-propelled howitzer. The gun barrels will be delivered in the period 2024-2029. The delivery is part of a massive growth programme in barrel and weapons production that Rheinmetall is currently implementing in order to meet the increased demand in the future.
This new order once again underlines Rheinmetall s leading technological position in the field of gun barrels in Europe. Rheinmetall is a world leader in gun barrels and the associated ammunition technology - including, for example, the 120mm smoothbore gun for main battle tanks. Many user nations around the world place their trust in Rheinmetall s weapons technology.
The PzH 2000, a weapon system developed in the 1980s and 90s and continuously modernized since then, is known for its outstanding long-range firepower. It achieves a rate of fire of ten rounds per minute and, depending on the ammunition and propellant used, a range of between 30 and 40 kilometres with conventional ammunition and 67 kilometres with range-enhanced ammunition.?
