Salzburger Alumiunium Group invests millions in new site in Slovakia
The 12,000 m2 plant in Chocholá near Trencin goes into operation today
(PresseBox) - As of today, SAG Slovakia - a wholly owned subsidiary of the Salzburger Aluminium Group - will start production at its new site in the SIHOT industrial park near Trencin. The SAG Group invested around 1.5 million euros in the relocation, expansion and extended technical equipment. The new plant is located near the Czech-Austrian border and offers the company, which specialises in special constructions made of metal and aluminium, considerably larger capacities: With an area of 10,365 m2, the new plant will have enough space to adapt to the increasing demand for special parts from manufacturers of special vehicles or the railway industry. The central location of the new site and the good connection to the main transport networks also bring environmental benefits through shortened transport routes, thus contributing to climate protection and product sustainability.
After 19 years at the Dubnica site, the change of location became necessary this year. At the plant in Slovakia, SAG specialises in the production of complex special constructions made of aluminium, which are designed and manufactured individually according to customer requirements. The range extends from window systems for trains to huge tanks with a capacity of over 3,000 litres. In the last few months alone, the company has won major orders from RMMV, the City of Vienna, John Deere, Liebherr and Siemens Mobility. "With the optimised infrastructure, we can further streamline procedures and make the production process even more efficient," explains plant manager Andrej ?ikel.

SAG Group: a global player with a local footprint in nine countries at 12 locations
The Salzburger Aluminium Group is an Austrian family-owned company with 1100 employees worldwide at 11 locations in Europe, Mexico, the USA and Canada. The headquarters of the company, which goes back to Salzburger Aluminium founded in 1898, is located in Austria (Lend in Salzburg). SAG has subsidiaries in Sweden, France, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Mexico, North America and Canada. As the market leader for aluminium tanks for trucks, SAG is a global supplier to all major OEMs. Other products include air tanks, compressed air tanks and special components for the commercial vehicle, rail and special vehicle industries. In addition, the company is a technology leader in cryogenic tanks for LNG (liquefied natural gas) and LH2 (liquid hydrogen) and a pioneer in rheocasting (semi-solid casting process for aluminium). The export quota is over 90 percent. SAG supplies all major truck manufacturers and many international passenger car manufacturers as well as OEMs in the rail and special vehicle industries. The turnover of the entire group of companies was around 155 million euros in 2020.
SAG was recently awarded a special prize as "Leading Innovator" at the GreenTech Awards 2020/21. This was prompted by the company''s numerous patents for innovations that make a significant contribution to climate protection.
