Available from this summer, the CT50 provides a dramatic reduction in handling time and maintenance costs

(firmenpresse) - Available from this summer, the CT50 provides a dramatic reduction in handling time and maintenance costs

Leaders in optical connectivity and splicing technology, Fujikura Europe, will be launching the new CT50 Optical Fibre Cleaver, an improved complete cleaving product, offering increased operability and maintainability compared to any other cleaver of its kind on the market today.

The CT50 provides enhanced drop and impact resistance and allows customers like never before to replace the actual cleaving blade and resin members that hold the optical fibres, dramatically reducing handling time and maintenance costs. With the ability to cleave single fibres and bundles of up to 12 fibres, the CT50 is Bluetooth enabled, smart phone ready, and can be easily integrated into existing splicing processes for customers looking to invest in a future-proof cleaving solution.

"We have over 40 years'' experience in providing customers with high-quality splicing solutions, and the CT50 is a testament to this. With ease of use, minimal process times and expenditure and created with the future in mind, Fujikura Europe optical solutions are engineered to last," said Neil Bessant, fusion splicer divisional manager at Fujikura Europe. "Within the CT50, we have adopted an inter-dependent mechanical system, allowing customers to complete their cleaving works, including scrap collection, all within a single-step."

Additional features include the ability to intelligently assess and indicate cleaving blade life and the capacity to expand the opening angle of the lever placed on the top of the cleaver able to over 90 degrees, so that optical fibres can be set and removed effortlessly on the cleaving part.

"For most cleavers on the market today, when a part of the disc cleaving blade is worn due to repetitive use, the blade must be detached, rotated to an unworn area and reattached again using a wrench. This process is both timely and costly," added Bessant. "The CT50 is a turning point for the industry, literally, by rotating the position of the cleaving blade automatically and in accordance with the condition of the cleaving state of optical fibres on the fusion splicer through its wireless communication features."

The new CT50 will be available worldwide in the summer of 2018.
