(PresseBox) - LASER COMPONENTS has gained a new partner for fiber-based electro-optic modulators with up to 40 Gbit/s: iXBlue. This French company is a leading manufacturer of LiNbO3 intensity and phase modulators as well as polarization switches and specialty modulators developed on customer specifications. These products cover a wide range of wavelengths including 800 nm, 1060 nm, 1300 nm, 1550 nm und 2 ?m. Delivery includes respective drivers and heat sinks.
In electro-optical modulators, the refractive index of the LiNbO3 crystal changes as soon as it is exposed to an electromagnetic field, thus causing a shift in the phasing of the laser light. This method allows for optical time multiplexing in telecommunications networks. But this kind of modulators is also used in research facilities, manufacturing and nuclear physics.
