Low Labour Force Participation Rate Trend Continues, Unemployment Rate 6.2%
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 09/08/17 -- Canada''s Labour Force Survey released today showed that the Canadian unemployment rate in August declined 0.1 per cent to 6.2 per cent nationally. The labour force participation rate, which measures those actively looking for work stayed even at 65.7 per cent - near a decade low and continuing a concerning trend.
"The trend month-to-month on Canada''s low labour force participation is something we continue to see as a cause for concern," said Bob Funk, CEO and chairman of the board of Express Employment Professionals. "We know from the Canadian franchisees that employers are looking for workers. We now have to get people back into the workforce and fill those jobs."
