Make the most out of your trip to Munich with this guide on where best to stay and what best to do.

(firmenpresse) - As a business travel destination, Munich offers a seamless and enjoyable experience from start to finish. Home to a number of globally-renowned corporates, financial institutions and media and publishing organisations, the city has suitably evolved to provide all the infrastructure, amenities and services that one would expect from a global business hub, while offering plenty in the way of interesting things to see and do when the laptop has been put away.

Arriving in Munich

Given its reputation as a business destination, Munich is very well connected, offering an excellent choice of flight options from the UK. A total of five airlines operate direct routes from London at various points throughout the day to its large, well-equipped airport, which is located around 40km from the city centre. Make your arrival seamless by pre-booking a private Munich transfer, which will shuttle you into the city in approximately 50 minutes.

Where to Stay

At the top end is the Hotel Kӧnigshof, combining a classical exterior with an enviable location, 5m walk from the Marienplatz and central station in the heart of the city. The staff are second to none and the Michelin-starred Kӧnigshof Restaurant would not fail to impress a friend, date or business partner.

Also of note is the Rocco Forte Charles Hotel, offering some of Munich’s most spacious bedrooms and overlooking the city’s historic Botanical Gardens, which first opened their doors in 1812. The surrounding park also offers an excellent venue for a run, or simply a casual stroll to work up an appetite before dinner.

Where to Eat

Top of the list should be Restaurant 181, an intimate and highly personalised bastion of Munich’s eating scene that offers an incredible vantage of the city from its location in the Olympic Tower. Head chef Otto Koch will wow your palette and ensure you have an experience to remember at this Michelin-starred institution.

What to Do

Despite being a business hub, Munich benefits from a very relaxed ambience and one can enjoy oneself simply by going for a stroll and casually taking in the city’s landmarks. In particular, don’t miss a walk to see the Neues Rathaus (Town Hall) and renowned Glockenspiel. For a dose of culture, Munich also has plenty to offer and be sure to try and visit one or more of the Deutches Museum, Haus der Kunst and the Museum Brandhorst.

For something a little more off the beaten track head down to Vikualienmarkt, a vibrant market in the city that will offer you a truly authentic taste of Bavaria. Don’t forget to pick up some cheese to take home, but just make sure to keep it well wrapped up so as not to disturb other passengers on the return leg of your Munich transfer!

Lastly, if you have some time to hit the shops and are looking to pick something up for friends and family, head over to the OEX Munich Olympia shopping centre in the Moosach district. With three department stores and around 135 shops, you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for. Just don’t overstock too much otherwise your baggage may not fit on board your return Munich transfer!
