TOCA ME design studio launched own unit in Second Life and draws international design community into
(firmenpresse) - Munich, March 2007. The design studio TOCA ME (based in Munich, Germany) recently opened its own unit in Second Life and now draws the international design community into the most dynamic online-world in the internet.
The design and event agency has incorporated Second Life into their service portfolio as a new part of the integrated communication approach. The agency now supports medium and large sized companies with their branding in three-dimensional space. TOCA ME covers all steps from consulting and conception up to design and programming. Moreover, it does research into new and innovative forms of marketing in Second Life to be able to consult clients concerning the newly emerging possibilities.
After several agencies have taken up the hype during the last months opening their own branches in Second Life, TOCA ME is anxious to exceed the pure agency presentation by realizing their present concept of an international design community in the virtual world as well. Ronald Iberl, managing director of TOCA ME GmbH, announced: „It is not our primary goal to own another idle island with portfolio walls and empty meeting rooms. Although we will implement this in the near future for testing as well, it is on the one hand of greater importance for us to enthuse the designers from our existing network for this new medium Second Life and on the other hand to enlarge our community with outstanding creative heads from the virtual world.“ Thorsten Iberl and Nina Schmid, creative directors of TOCA ME GmbH, add: „The quality of design in Second Life is still in the fledgling stages. Design icons as we know them from the real world are missing.“
TOCA ME has assembled its island as a group of several islands – in correspondence to the overall concept of the TOCA ME design community. Thereby the focus is on the „watch me“ section – an own island inside the TOCA ME archipelago – where works from outstanding international multimedia and product designers as well as architects are presented. In this connection a „call for entries“ has been started, with the goal to animate designers from both the real and the virtual world to enter their works which will be exhibited periodically on the TOCA ME island. The activities will be framed by design events like virtual „design conferences“ and „open rooms“ for what TOCA ME is already famous for in the first life within the international design scene.
