European premiere at FachPack: SQUIX label printers by cab, designed for industrial application
cab, Europe’s leading manufacturer of label printing systems, introduces its new industrial label printers series SQUIX at the FachPack 2016 tradeshow in Nuremberg (27 to 29 September/hall 4, booth 4-308). The SQUIX are the further development of the successful A+ printers.

The requirements set by the market have increased, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is a major topic of discussion. With the SQUIX printers, the focus of development was particularly on an easy, intuitive operation, reliability and speed when printing and high printing accuracy. cab’s constructing engineers, technicians and software developers have accepted these challenges and transfer it in functionality and performance of the devices.
Q - “quick”
SQUIX printers have installed the fastest processor on the market, a processor likewise in use in the automotive industry. The clock rate is three times higher than it has been with the A+ printer series. 256 MB RAM are available, 50 MB as internal IFFS memory.
At print widths up to 108.4 millimeters SQUIX printers enable maximum print speeds of 300 millimeters per second. Accordingly, the power supply capacity has been adapted. The series lives up to present and future requirements in all industrial sectors.
U - “useful”
SQUIX printers feature a 4.3“ LCD color display and a resistive touchscreen. The user interface is smartphone-like with direct access to individual menu items. Video tutorials support the user handling the device. WLAN is integrated as standard. The SQUIX combine RFID capabilities with proven longevity. Installation of the read/write modules in UHF and HF is possible.
Print heads have been reworked so that exchanging gets even more user-friendly. 200, 300 and 600 dpi are replaceable on each device. An adjustment of the device is no longer necessary. For accurate caption it is possible to adjust the print head in test mode. For service purposes, the date of installation, the running performance in kilometers and the maximum temperature can be directly read. As regards operating errors, the direction of the ribbon winding as well as the print roller in dispensing operation are controlled.
The solid chassis, data interfaces and the firmware have been taken over from the A+ series. The peripheral interface allows SQUIX printers to be equipped with all the peripheral A+ devices such as cutter, applicators and external rewinders. SQUIX are provided with left-aligned or centered material feed. For both alignments peel-edged basic versions and dispensing versions are offered.
I - “intelligent”
“Our understanding of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is that mechanical and electrical
engineering intelligently interacts with the latest information and communication
technologies”, says cab Managing Director Alexander Bardutzky. “Optimum and safe
processes have to be ensured. In this context, the internal intelligence of our products
gains more and more importance.”
SQUIX printers provide an I/O interface with eight inputs and outputs, individually
programmable for any application. The SQUIX interfaces enable bi-directional exchange of information with for example master networks, production planning, databases,
PLC and other administration tools.
X - “xtraordinary”
Label printing, print and apply, laser marking – the diversity in application is one of
cab’s attributes. The company offers proper solutions for every marking requirement.
“It is our core vision”, says Alexander Bardutzky, “to ensure reproducible processes,
constant quality, traceability and a reliable logistics to the users of our products.”
Besides all technical functionality device development at cab always respects the
protection of the natural environment: The hinged cover of the SQUIX is made of shockresistant plastic with no metal parts processed. This makes the printer perfectly recyclable.
