Airfreight is tremendously important for the foreign trade
(firmenpresse) - All goods that are transported with an air waybill by air traffic are defined as airfreight. No other mode of transport has grown like that in the last few years. A statistic says that in 2015 goods amounting to about 234 billion Euros have been transported from and to Germany by airplane – an incredible amount and an increase of about 10 % compared to the previous year.
Airfreight – what are the possibilities?
Most goods are stowed in the lower deck of passenger planes, the rest is loaded into impressive freight and transport planes. Competition in the field of airfreight is hard and mainly freight airline companies from the Middle East are growing above average.
Although airfreight is much more cost-intensive than so-called ground freight it increasingly cines into operation. When speed is the most important factor in the global competition airfreight is the first choice.
Example of an exciting airfreight mission
Pfaff Logistik located in Baienfurt was entrusted with an airfreight mission of a special kind. A system part with the measurements 5.70 x 4.20 x 4.15 meters and a total weight of 18 tons had to be transported from Munich To Dammam in Saudi Arabia urgently. Thus it had to be processed as fast as possible, under highest deadline pressure.
Due to the height of the material the biggest airplane available for airfreight had to be chartered – an Antonov 124 of the airline Volga-Dnepr Airlines. This impressive airplane is endued with a loading space with a length of 36 meters, a width of 6.40 meters and a height of 4.40 meters. The permissible maximum weight amounts to 390 tons (190 tons tare weight). Loading activities can be carried out from the liftable body front as well as from the rear ramp (to the full extent of the cross section).
Pfaff Logistik took care of the whole operation and after only 6.5 hours the system part arrived in Dammam – fast, unobstructed and to the customer’s full satisfaction.
