The Conference Theme Is "Reaching New Heights: Looking Back, Moving Forward" as the Society Celebrates Its 70th Anniversary
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 06/17/16 -- The Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals will hold its annual conference June 22-25 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, CO with the theme "Reaching New Heights: Looking Back, Moving Forward." This year''s conference marks the Society''s 70th anniversary.
The all-star lineup of speakers includes Helena Morrissey, Chief Executive of Newton Investment Management; Chris Whipple, writer and executive producer of "The Spymasters," a documentary on the CIA; and Dr. Bennet Omalu, the first doctor to diagnose chronic brain damage in NFL Athletes and featured in the movie "Concussion."
Other notable keynote speakers include: Kristen Soltis Anderson, author of "The Selfie Vote"; Suzanne "Zan" Vautrinot, Retired Major General, 24th Air Force and Commander of all Air Forces Cyber; Dan Gallagher, former SEC Commissioner, now President, Patomak Global Partners; James A. Squires, CEO of Norfolk Southern Corporation and Hikmet Ersek, Chief Executive Officer and Director, The Western Union Company.
The conference -- which is expected to draw more than 750 corporate secretaries, in-house and outside counsel, and governance professionals at public and private companies of all sizes -- will include breakout sessions on topics such as SEC developments, activism, cybersecurity, and many more; three legal ethics workshops; an Investor Forum for companies to meet and engage with shareholders; and, new for this year, Learning Labs where attendees explore topics in high energy, "bite-size" learning segments. The final session of the conference is "Quantifying the Benefits of Sustainability," which will focus on the growing importance of sustainability to investors and how to quantify the benefits of sustainability to stakeholders.
