Commercial Truckers Protest High Insurance Quotes

The unhappy truckers are discontent with the high cost of commercial truck insurance, their low pay, and the amount of profit brokers skim off the top.
For refusing to drive his truck out of an intersection, one, Javier Figueroa Leon, was arrested, and his wife caught the arrest on her cell phone. A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper said to €œget out of the truck.€ A second man, named Magdiel Millar, was arrested for hindering Figueroa€™s arrest.
Daniel Garcia, a protester, complained that the truckers had driven from Miami to Tallahassee to take care, saying that customers did not want to pay and stole money from the truckers. He also said that their attempts to €œdo something€ were futile and that their protesters going to jail was senseless. Above all, truck insurance is too high.
At a truck stop on I-10, the protest continued. Commercial truck insurance, they said, is too high.
The FDHSMV (Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles) described the incident, stating that their top priority is keeping Florida€™s roadways safe for the public. That goal spurred them to monitor the CDL911 convoy€™s routes in order to prevent interrupted or delayed travel for Florida€™s citizens and visitors. They also explained that they had arrested two drivers -- Magdiel Millar and Javier Figueroa -- for resisting arrest non-violently. FHP arrested Javier Figueroa for blocking an intersection, and LCSO arrested Magdiel Millar for hindering that arrest. LCSO was assisting FHP while the convoy traveled through Leon County.
