(firmenpresse) - Software Asset Management (SAM) is a process as dynamic as it is complex. Software producers continuously modify and expand their license rules and use rights. As a consequence, the IT-infrastructure and software (applications, operating systems, updates , patches) of enterprises is obviously exposed to correspondingly continuous changes. In order both to cope with internal compliance standards and to avoid severe penalties as a result of an audit failure, an increasingly permanent and comprehensive Software Asset Management is therefore becoming ever more indispensable.

The managed services provided by SAM Live! GmbH offer the implementation of uncomplicated software asset management aligned with individual requirements. Your software compliance will thus be permanently safeguarded as well as a continuous optimimization of your license and contractual agreements – at any point in time reflecting your actual IT infrastructure.
Cloud solutions providers, system houses or Microsoft SAM Partners are devoting much time to keep their clients‘ software and IT up to date while direct client contact and strategic advice often do not receive enough attention. SAM Live! resolves possible imbalances not by way of one or more new SAM tools but by provividing a new technology platform on which Channel-Partners can utilize the full array of the various managed services of SAM Live! or even individually develop their own services according to their clients‘ respective needs.In this way SAM Live! Channel Partners expand their own service capabilities or refine them in the software asset management dimension. Building up one‘s own costly and resource intensive SAM service capabilitiesis becoming obsolete. Instead, SAM Live! platform partners just draw down those capabilities which they need to service and advise their clients professionally – independent of already existing or non-existing in-house SAM capabilities, because SAM Live! is offering its Channel Partners a complete framework reaching from a fully fledged scan technology to standardized back office and workflow pocesses. The SAM Live! scan engine is the basis from which, for example, own services can be developed. The scan engine can, but must not necessarily, be utilized by Channel Partners. With its help Cloud Solution Providers can offer monthly invoicing and as such pay-as-you-use models.
Modular set-up for all needs
The comprehensive managed services of SAM Live! are composed of four modules:
•Inventory as a Service
•Licence Management as a Service
•Compliance as a Service
•Connectivity as a Service
These modules are being offered in three different bundles: one for utilization in a Microsoft environment plus another for altogether five more software providers where the user can choose between Corel, Adobe, VMware, Citrix, Autodesk, Symantec and Acronis as well as Mindjet, Nuance, Veeam and Parallels. The third bundle is including further software providers.
The module „Inventory as a Service“ is offering an agentless inventorization of all hardware and software assets. SAM Live! is scanning on IP-range basis with only minimal impact on the scanned systems. Even hardware which found its way into the netware by circumventing IT department approval will be identified and screened. This module provides users with a complete survey of all existing client computers, servers, peripheral equipment, network components, routers, switches, VOIP telephones etc. SAM Live! also can account for the historic evolvement of past license agreements and can allocate the respective locations to identified network components. Finally, managed services identify software on all clients and servers and software services like, for example, SQL, Exchange or Sharepoint.
Licensing recommendations and discrepancy analysis
Module „Licences Management as a Service“ helps users avoiding mistakes in allocating licenses. It continuously analyses the current commercial situation on the basis of existing software agreements and licenses. Taking into account current licensing terms hardware allocations are being kept up to date and available at any time for licenses balances.
The evaluation of utilized and licensed sofware is being performed by module „Compliance as a Service“. Here an analysis of existing licensing models and individual licensing arrangements takes place. All existing licensing agreements are also being checked. On this basis the module produces compliance or, respectively, risk reports and provides license recommendations by way of, for example, comparing actual utilization with existing uilization rights.
Tying in previously installed deployment, inventory or SAM tools with combined scanning capability is performed by module „Connectivity as a Service“. Numerous interface options exist. In this fashion data from SAM Live! or third party providers can also be integrated in Microsoft Workspace in fully anonymized form. Discrepancy analysis furthermore also permits the identification of data inconsistencies.
From reacting to pro-active client advice
Standardized processes of the modular platform of SAM Live! allow to visualize the entire IT infrastructure in combination with license management. SAM Live! Channel-Partners benefit from more transparency and deeper insights into existing IT infrastructures, enabling them to develop individual services, which will lead on, for example, to optimal hardware replacement strategies or infrastructure optimization. You will offer your clients these managed services in your own name and for your account, fully protecting your client relationship. Managed services from SAM Live! not only optimize the services provided by Channel Partners. Their standardized SAM processes also relive these from previously time and resource consuming tasks. This is the decisive change from a reacting mode to pro-active client advice in Software Asset Management.
