(PresseBox) - Flexibility, accuracy and versatility have a new name: Area Profile Scanner 3D, APS3D for short. The smart, highly-accurate sensor innovation clears the way to exploit new 3D robot guidance and automation applications. This is made possible with a solution like no other anywhere around the world, combining stereometry, triangulation and phase-shift methods. The APS3D can be integrated ideally into the quality inspection of the input material, for sheet metal parts, for example, or be used for final assemblies requiring fitting accuracy. The new generation of highperformance 3D sensors allows the highly precise measurement of free-form surfaces - an important prerequisite for continuous quality assurance during automated assembly, as well as in robot-guided 3D vision applications.
Three-dimensional - a simple and very common word spoken these days: everyone seems to be talking about 3D televisions, 3D printing, and even 3D cinemas. 3D technology is even becoming common place in production automation. ISRA VISION, a company which has for years played a leading role in 3D robot vision solutions, now measures in 3D.
With its Area Profile Scanner (APS3D), ISRA VISION has once again proven its innovative force. APS3D is the beginning of a new full performance class of 3D sensors. The unique "all-in-one" solution covers the ever increasing demands for highest accuracy and flexibility in 3D in-line gauging technology, 3D robot guidance and flexible closeto- production quality assurance. It allows surface information to be recorded fast and reliably - starting with the automatic 3D data generation, using 3D point clouds and data meshing and even comparing CAD data. This makes it the ideal tool for applications such as shape measurement, dimensional accuracy inspection and geometric in-line gauging.
This is made possible by combining three different, but efficient measuring principles: Stereometry, triangulation per multi-lines and random samples as well as special high-resolution phase-shift methods.
The APS3D is an intelligent sensor and belongs to ISRA''s "Plug & Automate" family of products. The integrated calculation unit makes operation possible even without an additional computer, thus increasing flexibility as well. The sensor operates either as a standalone solution or attached to the robot. When measuring large surfaces, it supplies results quickly with accuracy into even minimum micrometer ranges. The sensor is available in various design options for measuring fields up to 460 x 380 mm. For even larger or particularly complex surfaces, several sensors can be linked to a single modular system.
The APS3D can be operated and controlled using intuitive software and is delivered completely pre-calibrated. Easy set-up is guaranteed with fast hardware installation and intuitive menu navigation. It can be ideally used in a variety of different tasks, beginning with the individual measurements for assembly features, checking characteristics and positions, detecting the geometry of entire components, CAD comparison or for goods receipt inspections. Its range of use is so versatile that it can cover almost every robot guidance and quality assurance requirement within a production operation.
