(firmenpresse) - Company showcases its SUCOFLEX range for high quality connectivity in space and defense applications
Global connectivity supplier HUBER+SUHNER is setting its sights high at Satellite 2015 in Washington DC next week with the launch of two new cable assemblies designed for the space and defense market. The company will unveil its new SUCOFLEX range of ultra lightweight, high radiation resistant microwave coaxial cable assemblies (SUCOFLEX 300 series), the SUCOFLEX 229 loss revolution for dynamic applications including the TVAC version, and the SUCOFLEX 167 for applications up to 65 GHz.
With successful space stories such as the Philae comet landing last year and the Galileo satellites under its belt, HUBER+SUHNER is well placed to demonstrate its extensive expertise in space applications when it makes its debut at the Satellite 2015 show this week. Based in the US with HUBER+SUHNER INC. and HUBER+SUHNER Astrolab, the company has produced a broad portfolio of safe, high quality connectivity solutions in low frequency, radio frequency and fiber optic technology – all designed for use in harsh environments with extreme requirements in terms of weight, strength and reliability.
The company will also be showcasing its light weight, high radiation resistant space flight assemblies (SUCOFLEX 300) along with its flexible ‘bend-to-the-end’ high performance Minibend cable assemblies, including high radiation resistant solutions. Finally the company will show its SMPM-T connector, the smallest threaded open source connector available, designed to handle high density requirements with a centreline-to-centreline spacing of just 5 mm and unmatched electrical stability at frequencies up to 65GHz even in the harshest operating environments.
“We have a robust range of cable products for both ground testing and space flight,” explains BJ Lyman, HUBER+SUHNER’s Space and Defense Market Manager. “They have already proved their worth in missions such as Philae and Galileo and we are continuing to develop new ranges for future space exploration.”

HUBER+SUHNER has over 15 years’ experience in developing and implementing passive microwave products in a range of scientific and commercial space projects, from low earth orbit (LEO) and geosynchronous orbit (GSO) projects to interplanetary unmanned vehicles as well as manned missions.
Connectivity solutions used in space require maximum precision, from the development stage through to the production phase. HUBER+SUHNER assemblies for applications in the space flight, ground station and satellite testing sectors are characterised by low weight and excellent electrical performance, as well as having all the necessary approvals.
The company’s focus on comprehensive market support also incorporates test, measurement, analysis, screening, qualification, destructive physical analysis (DPA), environmental stress screening (ESS), and Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) capabilities to provide the marketplace with total product solutions.
Manufacturing capabilities incorporate IPC, NASA and ESA workmanship standards, clean room manufacturing and testing (class 100) as well as technical training and certification programmes. Its solutions represent cutting-edge market and customer support for complete technical support and oversight of any programme requirements. Sourcing, traceability and assembling processes are performed according to ESA, NASA and MIL standards. Based on customer-specific requirements, HUBER+SUHNER qualifies its space products in accordance with ESA, NASA and MIL standards.
