A successful year for the MAPAL Group
(PresseBox) - The precision tool manufacturer MAPAL was again able to post a significant growth in turnover in the 2013 business year. Consolidated group sales rose by 7% from EUR 440 million in 2012 to EUR 470 million in 2013. "We have thus fully achieved our target for the year," said President Dr. Dieter Kress. The number of employees rose over the same period by 5% to 4,300 worldwide. Of these, almost 3,000 are employed at the nine sites in Germany.
In order to satisfy the higher demand, considerable expansion investments are planned for the German sites for 2014. In Eppingen, for example, a complete new works with 7,500 m² is to be built for the production of actuating and ISO special tools. The works in Ehrenfriedersdorf for the production of clamping devices is to be expanded. The production for diamond tools in Pforzheim has also reached its capacity limits and will be significantly expanded, too. As a result, MAPAL has the world's largest PCD production facility. These are in addition to the ongoing investments in new machines to keep productivity and quality at the highest level.
The first five months of the 2014 business year indicate a continuation of the very pleasing development. If this development is maintained in the second half of the year, the MAPAL Group will break the turnover barrier of EUR 500 million in 2014. ?That is a quite realistic expectation, as we are seeing an increase in demand in all areas for the innovations presented at the last EMO," says Dr. Dieter Kress.
