PIA FLIGHTS – RECORD HIGH PRICES ON PAKISTAN FLIGHTS
PIA – Pakistan International Airlines operates its most lucrative route from Pakistan to the UK, with daily flight departures to and from Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi to London Heathrow, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds Bradford.
(firmenpresse) - With record high prices on flights to Pakistan families are the worst hit, with average peak season fares reaching a staggering £1000.00 for adults and on average £750.00 for child return fares. PIA have operated flights between Pakistan and the United Kingdom for around 40 years and have been preferred by its Pakistani passengers due to its nonstop flight operations to 3 of its major airports: Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. There have been rumours the airline are looking at expanding their fleet of Boeing 777-200 to Boeing 777-300’s however this has not been firmly confirmed by the airline at present . PIA have previously blamed rising fuel costs and airport taxes for the increase in fares on international and domestic routes.
PIA flights have become increasingly popular due to very high demands in recent years and with no competing airline flying direct to Pakistan are in a dominating position.
Pakistani travellers have enjoyed around 7 years of low cost fares to Pakistan thanks to Air blue, privately owned airline of Pakistan which became very popular among the British Pakistani communities for their low cost budget style fares and operations. Over the years PIA and Airblue have been in fierce competition with PIA being forced to reduce its prices to as low as £400.00 return including taxes which have never been offered in the past.
Unconfirmed sources linked with PIA acknowledged this was a huge problem for PIA who have been operating but with losses in billions of rupees, this was squeezing the airline even further on its balance sheets.
PIA was once the regions only long haul airline with state of the art head quarters situated in Karachi, it was a world renowned airline having won several awards.
Pakistani travel agents and mainly those appointed directly by the airline have no choice but to recommend clients alternative flights to Pakistan to save them money.
Turkish airlines are an award winning airline and have started operating regular schedules to Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, the airline is best placed to offer the some of the lowest fares to Pakistan due to its centrally located hub in Istanbul which offers the shortest travel time from the UK to Pakistan after PIA.
