100 Years since the First World War: The alimdi image agency is preparing for an increased demand for images
(firmenpresse) - The catalyst for the war was the attack on the Austrian heirs to the throne in Sarajevo in June 1914. Just a few weeks later, the whole of Europe was literally in flames; by November 1918, 17 million people should have lost their lives. Recalling the horrors of the hitherto most widespread conflict in history will be a major theme throughout 2014. Many editorial teams are putting together documentaries on the subject; there will be an increased demand for historical image material and contemporary illustrations.
The Munich image agency alimdi is also affected by this increased interest. As Thomas Mueller, owner of alimdi, points out: “The 100th anniversary of the First World War is definitely not a reason to celebrate. Nevertheless, we are pleased that we can offer our customers a wide range of images for their reporting requirements.”
