At eye level, congenial, interactive: that’s the feedback from the key participants survey, confirming the concept of the new educational format. With this constructive feedback, the initiators are now starting with the preparations for the follow-on event.

(firmenpresse) - The date has already been set: the next MICE Club LIVE will take place on 7 and 8 July 2014. And so the educational format starts its second round this summer. The location is the Ruhr Metropolis. Not only can participants expect another programme with a lot of inspiration, practical job tools and an intensive peer-to-peer exchange, but also a journey of discovery through the pulsating industrial Ruhr area.

Axel Biermann, Managing Director of Ruhr Tourismus GmbH and head of the Convention Bureau RUHR.MEETING, is looking forward to his role as host: "With its can-do attitude and its refreshingly different event concept, the MICE Club LIVE format is a perfect fit for the Ruhr Metropolis. Both aspiring and down-to-earth, the Ruhr area represents just that: an honest and conscientious - but also straightforward and sincere – approach towards its guests as well as with each other. We are therefore delighted to welcome MICE Club LIVE in our thriving metropolitan region and offset many a stereotype about the Ruhr area. You can look forward to a multifarious, and in many ways unique, MICE location full of industrial culture."

The new MICE Club industry event first took place on 14 and 15 November 2013 in Cologne and attracted some 90 event and meeting planners as well as suppliers from the Meetings, Incentives, Congresses and Events (MICE) industry. At the premiere the new format already scored top marks among a survey of participants: 98 percent of planners and 73 percent of suppliers saw their expectations fulfilled or even surpassed. As to the question of whether to participate again in the following year, 82 percent of all participants gave a clear "Yes, any time" answer. As proof of the events success, the organisers received the first registrations for the next event − immediately after the premiere.

Development via open feedback
As of 2014, the industry event will officially run under the name "MICE Club LIVE". For the second roll-out in the Metropolis Ruhr on 7 and 8 July, the organisers have proactively taken the extensive feedback from the premiere participants into account: "We received a lot of positive feedback, but also constructive criticism. I am very grateful for both. It is our intent to develop the MICE Club LIVE jointly with our partners and members and thereby mirror the needs of our exciting industry," says initiator Dominik Deubner. In 2013, together with his team, he started with the clear idea of a new industry format to create an atmosphere of candour and allowing for constructive peer-to-peer dialogue going beyond the usual spoon-feeding approach.

Participants praise the constructive meeting architecture
The initiators have already succeeded with much of it: According to a participant survey, MICE Club LIVE stands head and shoulders above other well-known industry events, particularly in the areas of "interactivity", "demands on the staging" and "knowledge transfer".

Likewise, the new meeting architecture − conceived by creative director Oliver Malat − was rated as excellent: 92 percent of the participants gave the product presentation in the well thought through MICE Labs a good or very good rating; 86 percent experienced the networking framework as very constructive. The fact that the industry is clearly a "people business" is illustrated by statements from 26 percent of participants who wanted even more time for networking. What also earned praise was the innovative introduction round, immediately permitting peer-to-peer communication. In a − for the event industry unusual − theatre atmosphere of the 'Altes Pfandhaus', planners first introduced themselves on stage with their personal expectations. Subsequently, suppliers presented themselves using an "Elevator Pitch" – allowing just one minute to win over the audience in a creative fashion. Participants of the survey also commented, that as everyone appeared briefly in the spotlight, the typical behaviour patterns and expectations of classical MICE events were broken quickly.

Exciting theme clouds and locations
The inauguration event could also win over many with its educational elements. In view of its current importance and practical relevance, the theme clouds "Meeting Architecture" by Mike van der Vijver and "Deceleration" by Willem Stortelder stick particularly in mind. In addition, the mutual exchange of thoughts on specialised topics was praised and described as "interactive", "inspiring", "enriching" and "productive".

During the two day event, the participants stopped over in several inspiring venues. The three main venues 'Altes Pfandhaus', 'Rheinloft Cologne' and 'The New Yorker' | DOCK.ONE scored top marks. Off-locations 'Exquisit' and the 'Design Quartier Ehrenfeld' also won praise.

A lot of curiosity at the debut
The desire for inspiration and fresh ideas, as well as a curiosity about the new format (81 percent for each) was the overwhelming reason planners gave for participating in the first MICE Club event. Around two-thirds wanted to cultivate contacts, get to know new suppliers and their products and were very satisfied with the quality of the suppliers participating. These in turn, were seeking new business relationships. 65 percent came to present their own range of products, whilst 61 percent wanted to get an impression of the new format.
