Official start signal for the IVU.suite
Contract signed for the introduction of the ITCS solution in Rhineland-Palatinate
After IVU Traffic Technologies AG won the European call for tenders issued by Rhenus Veniro Süd-West for the introduction of an ITCS system, all the participants met on Friday in Bad Kreuznach to officially sign the contract. The Bad Kreuznach Public Transport company (VGK) is one of the first bus companies whose vehicles are to go into operation with IVU on-board computers in the course of introducing the new system. Overall, 220 vehicles within the Rhenus Veniro Group are to be newly fitted out. In addition, IVU.fleet is to be used for fleet management, with an extra component for the booking and control of on-demand services, along with IVU.fare as background system and IVU.realtime for passenger information services.
(firmenpresse) - The project is supported by the Federal State government as part of its Real-Time Initiative. The goal for the future is to provide public transport passengers in Rhineland-Palatinate with comprehensive real-time travel information and reliable connections in order to achieve a long-term improvement in the quality of public transport services throughout the region. The system architecture for the real-time passenger information service is currently being introduced in stages. Trial operations are already underway in parts of the region, and over the next three years further regions will be added step by step. Rhenus Veniro Süd-West is among the first users of the new ITCS solution. The company anticipates that the introduction of the system will also offer additional positive effects by easing workloads for the transport personnel and significantly simplifying operations.
In addition to representatives of the Rhenus Veniro Group and IVU, the official signing ceremony was also attended by representatives of the RNN public transport association and the Rhineland Palatinate Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sport and Infrastructure (ISIM). Together, they gave the official start signal for the real-time Initiative, which in future will make it possible for five companies in the group to continually locate their vehicles and to track their progress along the routes, as well as providing real-time passenger information.
The passengers of these companies will benefit appreciably from the introduction of the new system. Using the buses, and urban trains will become a much more service-oriented experience. And this will in future be the standard for the entire public-transport network throughout the Rhineland-Palatinate federal state. Across all companies and public-transport networks, travellers will be able to access live information about all possible connections, updated arrival and departure times, and any possible deviation from the timetable information. The goal is to further enhance the experience of using public transport in Rhineland-Palatinate.
