mic IT AG takes a majority stake in the big data specialist Dimensio Informatics GmbH
(PresseBox) - The holding company mic IT AG, which belongs to mic AG, has increased its holding portfolio with a further majority stake in Dimensio Informatics GmbH, Chemnitz. As part of a combined transaction comprising the acquisition of shares in the company and a cash capital raising, mic IT AG acquired around 77 per cent of the voting rights in Dimensio Informatics.
Stefan Ulrich Fleissner, responsible for structuring, negotiating and executing the takeover of Dimensio Informatics GmbH on behalf of mic IT AG: "With the acquisition of Dimensio Informatics GmbH we have undertaken an important strategic step to increase our technological basis in the "Big Data" sector. Dimensio controls an excellent portfolio of patents for the extreme acceleration of big volume and highly complex data bank applications on the software side.
About Dimensio Informatics GmbH:
The company was established in 2010 as a spin-off of the professorship for data administration systems at the Technical University of Chemnitz and has 12 employees, almost exclusively highly qualified information technology specialists. The patented software portfolio of the multiple award-winning software company includes products for the analysis and optimisation of data bank applications that accelerate the processing time for the evaluation and maintenance of highly complex data banks from 24 hours to a matter of seconds. Dimensio was already able to provide impressive evidence of this in 2011 with a range of customers domestically and internationally. To accelerate the data bank applications, the company employs techniques and methods from the "Artificial Intelligence" (AI) sector. The minimally invasive solution, which is integrated between the applications and the data bank, develops its own multi-dimensional indexed structure of the database and learns the connections between the data. In this way, scanning such as, e.g., on IBM or Oracle systems, can be accelerated by a factor of 1,000 and more without additional and expensive investments in hard and software.
