Tested Filters for Raman Applications
Quality Assurance in Raman Spectroscopy
(PresseBox) - Conventional spectrometer measurement technology reaches its noise limit at an attenuation of OD5 - i.e., at an attenuation factor of 100,000. In special Raman applications and protective filters for doctors, much higher attenuation levels are required. Using modern production methods, such filters can be manufactured; however, it is necessary to test their quality. Even such defects as nano-pinholes can lead to missing the targeted specifications.
LASER COMPONENTS' partner Omega Optical recently developed a measurement station that, in addition to the conventional spectrophotometer, can measure the attenuation up to OD8. Filters with an attenuation factor up to 100,000,000 can now pass the final quality inspection.
LASER COMPONENTS is specialized in the development, manufacture, and sale of components and services for the laser and opto-electronics industries. With sales offices in four different countries, the company has served its customers since 1982. In-house production at six locations in Germany, Canada, and the USA began in 1986 and is meanwhile responsible for about half of its turnover. Currently, the family-run business employs more than 150 people worldwide.
