Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum to equip state-of-the art display production line
Major order from Asia to supply 200 vacuum pump systems
(firmenpresse) - A well-known East Asian display manufacturer has awarded Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum the contract to deliver fore-vacuum solutions for its state-of-the-art production process. This multi-million Swiss Franc contract in- volves fitting the production line with around 200 systems. “With this major order, we are posi- tioning ourselves in the growing display and monitor application area and have once again demonstrated our expertise in processes and solutions,” says Dr. Martin Füllenbach, Segment CEO at Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum.
Vacuum systems made by Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum are a key element in the production of what is cur- rently the most innovative display technology, AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode), which is used in mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Apart from the increased brilliance of color and the improved black and white contrast, one of the major benefits are the new design options that these flexible and pliable displays make possible.
Starting in 2014, Oerlikon Leybold’s vacuum technology will be used in the display manufacturer’s stand- ard production for applications including vaporization, thin-film wrapping and transportation. Of particular importance to the manufacturer are the short cycle times, superior process performance and competitive operating costs of the vacuum system. This order demonstrates Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum’s leadership position in vacuum technology for production processes.
