Si PIN Sandwich Photodiode
Two in One
(PresseBox) - LASER COMPONENTS introduces the new silicon detector from its partner Advanced Photonics, Inc. The SD138-11-38-211 features a unique design: two silicon PIN photodiodes are vertically integrated into a hermetic TO-5 housing. The upper photodiode, 300 nm - 1100 nm, absorbs a portion of the incident light; the rest of which reaches the lower photodiode, 950 nm - 1100 nm.
The ratio of the two photocurrents can, for example, be used to monitor the color temparture of an object.
