MAPAL MEGA-Speed-Drill
(PresseBox) - The MEGA-Speed-Drill from MAPAL is fundamentally different to conventional solid carbide drills due to its innovative face geometry. This geometry provides reliable chip removal from the bore, reduces the feed forces and self-centres the tool. The guiding chamfers on the MEGA-Speed-Drill are not arranged opposite each other to prevent jamming of the drill in the bore. At the same feed around 20 % less torque is required than with conventional twist drills; this improvement is achieved by reduced friction.
The key application advantage of the MEGA-Speed-Drill on machining steel and castings is in the cutting data that can be achieved: the drill can be operated at twice the cutting speed of conventional drills without any loss of tool life.
The innovative power of the high performance drill MEGA-Speed-Drill from MAPAL has recently been documented across Europe by the publication of a European patent, following on from the award of a German patent.
