Special grille-shaping process increases air-permeable surface by 6%

Emissions standards for commercial vehicles are becoming ever more rigorous. Some of the significant innovation drivers required to meet these standards are located in the engine cooling area. Solvaro developers used a special shaping process to increase the air-permeable surface of the ventilation grille by 6%, and the result is a new maximum air supply.

(firmenpresse) - Maximum air with minimum contaminants
Two opposite factors that are not easy to bring into balance. But agricultural and construction machinery manufacturers are required to meet rigorous ventilation grille standards. Their coolers need the highest air supply possible and, at the same time, excellent protection against leaves, dirt and other contaminants.
This also applies to the ventilation grille that Solvaro GmbH developed for vehicles from Multicar. They quickly found the ideal perforation: HV 2–2.25. But the developers in Kirchheim unter Teck, Germany, were not satisfied with the free cross section of 64% you can achieve with this perforation.

Enlarged surface with undulation
They found the solution for an even larger air supply and the resulting improvement in cooling efficiency in the shape of the grille. By giving the grille an undulating shape while keeping its size and perforation constant, they achieved a larger air-permeable surface – one that amounted to approximately 70%. An increase of 6%. Multicar uses the grille on all-rounder model M27.
