Four Winds Casinos Will Sponsor the Four Winds Invitational Again in 2013

(firmenpresse) - SOUTH BEND, IN -- (Marketwire) -- 09/21/12 -- The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, owners of Four Winds Casinos®, the premier gaming destinations in the Midwest, and the LPGA®, the world's leading women's professional golf organization, are pleased to announce that donations of $53,000 to Memorial Children's Hospital™ and $10,000 to the Ronald McDonald Family Room™, were presented today to both organizations at a check presentation ceremony in South Bend, Ind. The donations were made possible using proceeds from the inaugural Four Winds Invitational, which was held from August 10 through August 12, at Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend. Four Winds Casinos also announced that it will once again sponsor the Four Winds Invitational in 2013. Details on the 2013 tournament will be released at a later date.

"We are extremely proud to be able to support Memorial Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald Family Room through these donations," said Matt Wesaw, Chairman of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. "Both organizations serve critical needs of patients and families in the region and we can't think of two organizations that are more worthy of our support."

Memorial Children's Hospital is planning on using its donation to support the purchase of a new pediatric ambulance. The Ronald McDonald Family Room will use its donation to help ensure that its services will continue to be provided to parents at no cost.

"Memorial Children's Hospital serves 22 referring hospitals across Northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan, averaging 400 pediatric transports a year. This kind of demand begins to take a toll on an ambulance, which is why Memorial Health Foundation made a new pediatric transport unit a funding priority," said Michaeleen Conlee, Senior Director of Women's and Children's Services at Memorial Children's Hospital. "When you look at all the new technology that we envision will go into this new unit, it will take us to a whole new level of providing care during the transport of critical patients. It will also ensure that we can continue to provide high-quality services to keep children close to home for many years into the future."

"We serve nearly 2,000 parents a year and this generous donation will help ensure that families with children undergoing medical treatment at Memorial Children's Hospital will have a place to rest and regroup right at the hospital," said Shelley Lesniewicz, Executive Director of Operations at Ronald McDonald House Charities Michiana.

Memorial Children's Hospital is the region's only designated children's hospital and treats over 4,000 children annually with a wide variety of medical and surgical diagnoses from more than 20 referral hospitals throughout Southwestern Michigan and Northern Indiana. Memorial is not only recognized nationally as a leader in providing high-quality care, but also as a leader in innovation, offering new approaches to patient satisfaction and customer service that set it apart.
