Unique on the market: dynamic scales with four-cell weighing technology

Balingen, 18th August 2012 - Bizerba is presenting the dynamic CWL ecoflexx in-motion scales at Fachpack 2012 in Nurnberg from 25th to 27th September (Hall 4, Booth 133). With a belt length of up to three metres, courier, express and parcel service providers can practically expect off-the-peg customised device configurations with this. The scales are approved as legal-for-trade with a speed of up to 2.7 metres a second, they can be tilted up to an angle of 20° and therefore save additional space, not just in high speed plants. This is possible due to its construction based on four weighing cells, which is so far unique on the market for legal-for-trade dynamic scales.
A weighing cell is installed on each corner of the frame, explains Dieter Conzelmann, Director Industry Solutions at Bizerba: "We have become more flexible due to this four-cell weighing technique and can now realise belt assemblies up to three metres long, adapted to the application, without losing any weighing accuracy."
Bizerba has also invested development efforts in simple installation and calibration. As a result, practically any technician can carry out dynamic balancing to compensate for interference using a digital assistant. Conzelmann: "To eliminate the influence of attachments, Bizerba has installed an additional rail on the side where the user can attach more components independent of the belt without distorting the weight, for example light barriers and scanners. At the same time, it serves as protection against inadvertently reaching into the scales. As a result, the CWL ecoflexx meets the highest standards of the Machinery Directive, which is also expressed by the declaration of incorporation in accordance with the EC Directive 2006/42/EC."
20° tilt possible
The scales can even be tilted up to 20°. Conzelmann explains what this is good for using an example: "At many parcel service providers, plants are installed that sort the parcels by means of slides. Conveyor belts take them to the right height. Service providers can now install the scales directly in these conveyors and save space for the horizontal set up of the scales."
Legal-for-trade weighing with 2.7 metres a second (PTB und OIML certified)
Bizerba has obtained approval from the Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt (PTB) and the International Organisation of Legal Metrology (OIML) to run belt speeds up to 2.7 metres a second with weights up to 60 kilograms and this is legal-for-trade. Conzelmann: "The scales are powerful enough to keep up with state of the art high performance logistics plants." They comply with protection class IP54 and can be flexibly integrated: with static and analogue signals, Profibus DP, TCP/IP, serial interfaces as well as simple scale protocols DPV0 und DPV1. Conzelmann: "The Bizerba industrial applications team develops mechanical, control and data technical solutions for special applications, which even enable data transfer via SMS."
Quiet belts, more effective transport lock
Quiet belts can also be installed. "Many customers", says Conzelmann, "set an upper noise limit of 68 decibels, as otherwise the noise level in the production or logistics hall becomes a burden for staff. Special belts that are available for the CWL ecoflexx comply with these limits." The transport lock has also become easier. "Beforehand, you had to remove the whole belt to activate the lock. Now this works by just screwing in two safety bolts."
