(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 03/12/12 -- Tornado victims, whose lives have been torn apart by the recent storms in the Midwest, will receive a $1 million truck load of new clothing necessities mid-week from Dignity U Wear according to Barbara Truncellito, New York based Executive Director. Dignity U Wear is a nonprofit headquartered in Jacksonville, FL that focuses on restoring dignity to Americans in need by providing new clothing.

"As a result of our partnerships with leading clothing manufacturers and retailers, we were able to mobilize quickly and consolidate shipments valued at over $1 million of new clothing for men, women, and children. The truck container is packed with basics -- underwear, socks, pants, short and long-sleeved shirts, jackets and winter hats. These important items that all of us take for granted, will help the affected people of Indiana get back on their feet. Our partner CSX Corporation is able to deliver the shipment to Indiana Baptist Disaster Relief in just a matter of days," said Truncellito.

"Our warehouse in Jacksonville, FL contains racks and boxes of all sizes of new clothing that we procure on an on-going basis to support a network of 300+ nonprofit social service agencies in all 50 states. We are pleased we were able to deliver these shipments as fast as we could to Indiana Baptist Disaster Relief, so they can get the clothing in to the hands of families who have been left destitute by the horrific storms last week," commented Truncellito.

The mission of Dignity U Wear is to positively impact the lives of children and their families in need throughout the United States by providing them with brand new clothing. Dignity U Wear partners with the apparel industry to provide the supply of clothing and then works through a network of social service agencies to deliver the clothing based on specified needs. Founded by philanthropist and Holocaust survivor, Henri Landwirth in 2000, the organization has provided more than 6.6 million pieces, valued at $125 million, to more than 500,000 people.
