(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 10/11/11 -- Technology firms focused on wireless communications are seeing secular growth provide new markets and business. Many companies within the sector are fighting hard for the position in these new markets through acquisitions and marketing tactics. The Paragon Report examines the outlook for companies in the Wireless Communications Industry and provides equity research on Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE: S) and Clearwire Corporation (NASDAQ: CLWR). 4G is being sold as the biggest and most revolutionary development to hit wireless networks in years. While consumers appear mildly confused as to what exactly 4G is, key players in the Wireless Communications Industry continue to work towards expanding their 4G networks. 4G is mostly about Internet speeds, and certain networks claim to have real-life speeds similar to a home cable connection.

It is possible that this sector will see mergers among smaller companies as they work towards launching their networks.

For months it had been rumored that Sprint Nextel was in talks with the cable companies over a new round of investment that may lead to a full takeover of 4G partner Clearwire. Bloomberg reported that the discussions during the summer appeared to be focused on raising sufficient new funds to enable Clearwire to continue the roll-out of its 4G wireless network and make the switch from WiMax Technology to a rival 4G technology called LTE favoured by most mobile network operators.

Sprint dealt a surprising blow to those rumors last week after the company said it will stop selling phones and other devices compatible with Clearwire's current network at the end of next year, after it switches on its own 4G network.
