On Monday, August 29, 2011, the branch located at 3180 Remembrance in Lachine, a Montreal suburb, held an official ceremony to mark the branch's LEED-CI Silver certification, which it earned thanks to its internal layout. Anik Bastien, Secretary of the Quebec Chapter of the Canadian Green Building Council's (CaGBC), presented a plaque to the people responsible for masterminding the project at National Bank, Bruno Leclerc, Senior Manager - Premises Department, and Andre Longpre, Manager - Building Engineering and Sustainable Development.
Awarded by the CaGBC, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification recognizes buildings that have been designed and built with high energy efficiency in mind, and that meet specific sustainable development standards. According to the CaGBC, the National Bank branch in Lachine is among the very first bank buildings to be awarded LEED-CI Silver certification in Quebec for interior design.
