(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 08/31/11 -- The top regulators from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Office of Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, along with Congressional and Senate lawmakers on pivotal banking committees, will keynote American Banker's first-ever in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 19 and 20.

Raj Date, special advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; Martin Gruenberg, acting chairman, FDIC; John Walsh, acting Comptroller of the Currency; and Thomas Hoenig, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, will address more than 250 bankers and mortgage lenders expected to attend the inaugural event.

From Capitol Hill, Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee; Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, (R-W.Va), chair of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit; and Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI), chairman of the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Securities, Insurance and Investment, will also address the attendees, offering their thoughts on the current state of financial regulatory reform and its effect on the industry, consumers and the economy.

The banking industry is also sending some of its most outspoken leaders on the topic of regulatory reform: Harris Simmons, chairman, president and CEO of Zions Bancorp; Robert Wilmers, chairman and CEO of M&T Bank; and Albert Kelly, CEO of Spirit Bank, are also on the agenda. Industry representatives from the American Bankers Association and the Independent Community Bankers of America will also speak.

"With the industry still trying to digest the multitude of changes from the Dodd-Frank Act, it's important that bankers get a chance to hear directly from the top regulators implementing the regulatory reform statute, and the lawmakers who helped to write it," said Rob Blackwell, the Washington Bureau Chief of American Banker.

"Additionally, I'm excited to have several leading bank CEOs offer their views on the law," Blackwell said. "The quality and caliber of speakers make this an event that shouldn't be missed by anyone interested in financial services policy."

A limited number of conference passes are still available. To register for American Banker's visit or call Dan Perkins at (212) 803-8483.
