The Bedford Report Provides Equity Research on YRC Worldwide & Arkansas Best

(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 08/23/11 -- The trucking industry represents a very important component of the US economy. According to the US Bureau of Economic Analysis, the trucking industry adds about 5 percent to the Gross Domestic product each year. With the sudden slowdown in the US economy and high fuel prices, trucking stocks have been on the downswing of late. The Bedford Report examines the outlook for companies in the trucking industry and provides equity research on YRC Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: YRCW) and Arkansas Best Corporation (NASDAQ: ABFS). Access to the full company reports can be found at:

ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello says manufacturing output gains will play a big part in the trucking industry's health for the remainder of 2011. "After growing 5.5% in the first half of the year from the same period last year, the strength of truck tonnage in the second half will depend greatly on what manufacturing output does," Costello explains. "If manufacturing continues to grow stronger than GDP, I fully expect truck freight to do the same."

The federal government reported last month that new orders for manufactured durable goods fell more than 2 percent in June. The orders have declined in two of the past three months, and the June dip was the largest in the previous six months.
