Konstantin Zvereff Brings Finance Experience to NGO in Africa
(firmenpresse) - SAN CARLOS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/09/11 -- Village Enterprise, a leader in rural microenterprise development, is pleased to announce the addition of Konstantin Zvereff to its staff as Sr. Director of Programs and Operations in Kakamega, Kenya.
In his new position with , he will be overseeing the operations of Village Enterprise's programs in Uganda and Kenya, which includes the starting of several thousand new small businesses among those living in extreme poverty in rural villages. He will oversee the development and delivery of new, innovative pilot projects and programs to increase the impact and scalability of the program, and manage partnerships with other community-based organizations in the field as well as the programs. He will play a lead role in defining and implementing Village Enterprise's strategic plans in East Africa.

Konstantin Zvereff, born in Barcelona, Spain, has dedicated most of his professional career to financial services and management consulting work with Booz Allen Hamilton. Mr. Zvereff focused his professional experience in systems and operations improvement as the Director of Operations of a Bear Stearns/JP Morgan joint venture, and as an independent consultant for Developing World Markets (an investment bank dedicated to making socially positive investments in the microfinance sector). He lived in East Africa as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Mozambique from 2005-2007. He received a BS in Biology and a BS in Financial Economics from the University of Maryland and his MBA from Georgetown University.
Headquartered in California, Village Enterprise works in East Africa. Village Enterprise's multi-pronged economic development model is unusual in the microenterprise development field. The organization targets start-up businesses in rural areas that many microfinance institutions do not reach. Village Enterprise selects local village leaders (Village Business Mentors) to provide mentoring during the first year of the new business, and to create business savings groups which provide opportunity for group-run savings and credit. Village Enterprise first provides formal training on topics such as savings, profits, record-keeping and group cooperation. Grants of $150 (or non-cash assets to start a business) are given to business groups of 3 people.
