The 15th Mind Sports Olympiad Features New World Championship Competitions

We are excited to announce the return of the for its 15th year in a row. The international games festival will be taking place at the University of London Union starting on the 20th of August. The Olympiad is expecting participants, from over 30 countries, vying for medals in both classic games and some new competitions never seen before at the Olympiad. includes mental-skill games, such as Chess, Poker, Scrabble, Settlers of Catan, Backgammon, and Monopoly, and a series of lectures related to gaming strategy. In addition, the Olympiad's popular is returning again with new mind-bending questions and will be hosted by former British Chess Champion, William Hartston. Organizers of the event include International Chess Masters, the former Mental Calculations World Champion, and gaming enthusiasts from around the world.
"We are so excited about this year's Olympiad after having such a successful turnout last year," said Etan Ilfeld, the Chief Organizer for this year's tournament. "We have even added some new competitive games we have never done before, such as, Diving Chess, Kamisado, and Scrabble Variants. For those scratching their heads, Diving Chess is the world's first chess game that combines blindfold play and athletic endurance by requiring players to remain underwater for the duration of their turn. "I've never seeing anything like this before-I would be really interested in trying it out myself," said Tom Bainton, a local documentary filmmaker who recorded a preview of this new sport.
All events are open to the public for viewing, and newcomers are encouraged to try out and learn new games for free. Competitors can participate in most events for only GBP 10, and an all-you-can play ticket for the entire event costs GBP 129 pounds or GBP 99 for students.
