Straight for the special tool - With QUICK-SAF, Safety presents a new software platform for custom solutions

(PresseBox) - Safety offers an extensive standard range of products in the areas of turning, drilling, milling, grooving, thread cutting and slotting. The main focus is on the market segments of automotive, aerospace, die & mould and energy. In order to facilitate rapid assembly of special cutters, Safety has specially developed an online platform. Based on the wide range of standard tools by the French tool manufacturer, special tools can thus be designed easily and comfortably.
The customer enters the desired tool dimensions and geometry data into the program and the software uses this to "design" the appropriate milling cutter. Here the software falls back on a similar tool in the standard range and in the background a design variant is automatically generated for manufacturing. If the request is received at Safety by noon, the quote for the special cutters will be on the customer's desk no later than 5 p.m. If the data is submitted in QUICK-SAF after midday, the quote will be presented on the following day. If the customer accepts the offer, the special tool goes into production and within a few weeks it will be delivered.
"Now, with QUICK-SAF the user can schedule even special processing quite well," says Holger Rabe, Managing Director of Safety Germany. The advantage here is the worldwide availability of the software platform. "With Quick-SAF, we have established short paths between our designers and our customers - worldwide."
Using QUICK-SAF, currently special milling cutters of the series COMPACT 90 (shoulder milling cutter) and AEROLONG (shell end mill) based on standard components can be configured. As announced by Safety, soon further series such as AEROFINISH (fine finishing cutters for the aerospace industry) and the Penta Heavy Duty (face-milling cutter for roughing) will follow.
