Weighing – State of the Art
Bizerba’s new system scales series SCII uses state-of-the-art technology for traditional weighing applications in the trade business.
(firmenpresse) - Balingen, 30. April 2010 – The technology manufacturer Bizerba has fitted its new energy-saving system scales series SCII with state-of-the-art technology. The series directly follows the long established successful model SC.
The new scales family uses the operating system Microsoft Windows and features an efficient processor. The 32 MB memory stores three times as much data as comparable scales. Maintenance periods and costs are reduced via the remote service. The optional, integrated battery guarantees a perfect weighing performance even without a power supply. External devices can be connected to the existing hardware interfaces without a problem. “Our new SC II series is the ideal solution for grocers who want to concentrate on the most important application – weighing – without foregoing state-of-the-art technology. The efficient hardware will fulfil even future requirements and therefore constitutes a safe investment. We have consistently continued to develop the software so that you can work in an almost fail-safe environment at the highest standards. The large memory allows basic software to be supplemented by modules at any time, so the scales can grow with your requirements,“ says Matthias Harsch, spokesman for the management of Bizerba. The series offers scales for applications in branches, mobile shops or battery-operated on market stalls.
State-of-the-art weighing technology
For quick and reliable data exchange all SC II scales are fitted with the PC based operating system Microsoft Windows CE, an efficient 400 MHz processor and a 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet network adaptor. Up to 32 devices can communicate in the scales group and so work with the same information on a real-time basis. Wireless communication is also possible. Whether within the central shop or between headquarters and branches – there is no limit to communication.
The scales have further relevant hardware interfaces as standard. Till drawers, scanners and e-cash terminals can be connected without a problem.
Remote access and update supports headquarters, branches and every individual scale
The remote service supports and accelerates the communication between the headquarters and the scales. All settings can be checked and changed remotely on the device from the headquarters, data can be updated on all scales at the same time and numerous software functions can be activated or de-activated. For example the headquarters can control price events or customer loyalty programmes as well as the assignment of loyalty points with various products for all scales without a problem.
Using the now additional new remote update function, new scales programme standards can be copied onto the complete scales system. Thereby all data is saved during the automatic programme status update and then copied back onto the scales memory. The scales can report by e-mail whether the programme update for the relevant scales was successfully completed.
In this way, users do not only save valuable time copying programme updates, but also costs for the service employee on site. Also they can ascertain reliably and without time- and personnel-consuming checks that all devices work with the same data. The user therefore has the necessary flexibility to quickly put new requirements and ideas into practice with a programme update, even in the case of geographically difficult branch distribution.
Of course Bizerba offers corresponding remote service/and maintenance contracts.
High performance batteries integrated in the casing for electricity-free weighing
For the first time the scales from the SC II series have an optional, integrated battery which is based on the latest Li-Ion battery technology. Additionally the scale works with energy saving electronic components. Therefore the scale functions reliably without external power supply for up to 10 hours, depending on the model. The battery can be completely recharged within a maximum of three and a half hours. The SC II series is therefore excellently suited to mobile trade or use on market stalls. In this way the mobile trader can plan their working day completely autonomously, independently from an external power supply. Of course the battery also bridges power cuts and disturbances based on electricity fluctuations.
Alternatively the scales can be fitted with a 12 V connection. Mobile traders feed them through the car battery.
Memory for article data, reports and evaluations
The integrated 32 MB memory makes extensions with additional memory cards superfluous. As standard, large quantities of article data such as basic and item price, product description, product groups and expiry dates can be stored. “The scales also have significantly more storage capacities for extensive reporting. In this way, for example, the complete article and product group turnover can be saved, analysed and evaluated over a long period of time and thereby storage can be optimised. Our customers can also economically control their personal use via the sales frequencies. Receipts can be traced and processed for longer time periods,“ says Harsch.
Keyboard configuration and keyboard labelling
Just as the world’s unique and popular Bizerba hub keyboard the scales can also be fitted with a foil keyboard. The keyboard layout for the foil keyboard can be individually designed.
The freely configurable, clear keyboard can be adjusted individually to the user’s needs. The version for quick operation can be added if required, e.g. in order to be in line with a large range of goods. Colour pictograms, article descriptions and clear numbering guarantee excellent clarity and make handling easier.
Printers and labels
The SC II scales are fitted with a combined 2“ receipt/label printer. It prints both labels and receipts. Alternatively a linerless printer can be used. Optimally adjusted receipt and linerless papers and labels can be bought from Bizerba for all system scales. The use of in-house consumables increases the reliability enormously and therefore the life span of the device.
Scale portfolio
The scales in the SC II series are available in various layouts: from the sales counter scales to platform scales and hanging scales right up to a model with external scales for up to 150 kg.
