Development Kit for the adaption of new WPAN Radio Modules
dresden elektronik offers a special development kit for the new deRFmega128-22A0x WPAN radio modules for developers of wireless solutions. The kit enables a fast adaption of the module interfaces as well as a fast start-up and test of simple wireless radio applications. It contains a comprehensive hardware package, cables, adapter and CD. Software, necessary for the integration of the radio modules in applications, is provided on the CD.
(firmenpresse) - “Shortly after Atmel launched the new ATmega128RFA1 wireless AVR, Dresden Elektronik introduces a new Radio Module and a Development Kit based on this new device. This great result was achieved due to the close collaboration between Atmel and the electronics manufacturer Dresden Elektronik. For our customers time to market will be reduced using the new module design, and they benefit from the advantages of the ATmega128RFA1 in the dynamic and cost-sensitive WPAN market” said Magnus Pedersen, Product Marketing Director of MCU Wireless Solutions at Atmel Corporation.
The kit includes three deRFmega128-22A00 radio modules and two development boards. Hence a complete mini network can be established and ambitious concepts can be implemented and validated. On the development boards all interfaces of the radio modules are accessible and thus, all features of the modules can be used prior to the customers development of its own specialized hardware.
All the tools necessary for the software development are available on the CD either directly or indirectly via links to suppliers websites. Some typical applications precompiled and in source code can also be found on the CD. The examples have various degrees of complexity, ranging from simple applications which allow access to the hardware resources of the radio modules or development boards to complex applications which cover different aspects of the wireless data transmission.
Basis for all examples is Atmel’s 802.15.4-MAC-layer implementation. All stack layers are covered (PAL, TAL, MAC) and so the development of proprietary and MAC-based applications is supported.
A Getting Started explains all steps from the installation of the ToolChain up to the first debugging session.
In order to test the radio communication without software modification a quick start guide is provided and the radio modules are free programmed with a wireless UART application.
