Czech TV broadcasts its HDTV program with MEDIA BROADCAST
State of the art IP platform for the program distribution via satellite
(firmenpresse) - Prague / Bonn, 27 August 2009 – From August 31, Czech Television, the public TV broadcaster in the Czech Republic, will broadcast its HDTV channel via T-Systems Czech Republic and MEDIA BROADCAST’s HDTV satellite services. As part of a bidding consortium, MEDIA BROADCAST sends the program signal to the Usingen teleport close to Frankfurt, Germany. From the teleport, the programme will be distributed via the ASTRA satellite platform at 23.5°E.

One of these services is the distribution of the broadcasters’ SD programs via MEDIA BROADCAST’s satellite capacity. This new project has allowed us to use our IP-based HD satellite platform. Together with the dedicated IP-connection the customer receives a state-of-the-art solution for the distribution of his HD-program”, says Helmut Egenbauer, CEO of MEDIA BROADCAST. He completes: "We are able to highlight our competence in the contribution and distribution of HD-signals in the international environment as well“.

The Czech TV channel will be encrypted in Prague and routed as an IP data stream over an international connection of T-Systems Czech Republic to the European “Core Interconnection Point“ with Ancotel GmbH in Frankfurt. From Ancotel, MEDIA BROADCAST transmits the stream through it’s dedicated “Broadcast NGN” into Usingen. The signal will be distributed using a data rate of 12 Mbps from Usingen as a DVB-S signal on ASTRA 23.5° E.
