DVSA to Implement Roadside Emissions Checks in the UK

We all remember the Volkswagen scandal of 2015, when the company was found to be fitting their cars with devices to cheat on emissions tests. Looking to Replace a Vehicle? Don’t Dismiss Approved Used

Buying a lorry is no mean feat, and for such a significant purchase it’s often only the biggest haulage companies who have sufficient bargaining power to buy a brand-new vehicle. Specialisation: The Haulage Companies Making it Work

Rhys Hackling, MD of Direct Connect Logisitcs (DCL) says that joining Haulage Exchange is the not so well kept secret of specialising without having to limit yourself to a restricted clientele. DCL’s Story DCL saw a gap in the market for a haulage firm that specialised in 7.5 tonne vehicles. Demystifying the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)

It’s hard to turn on the news these days without hearing about rising pollution, and it seems as though diesel is always the villain of the piece due to the high level of emissions which come from diesel vehicles. The FTA’s Plan to Keep Britain Trading

I’m sure the uncertainty of trading in Post-Brexit Britain is a concern for many haulage companies. Leaving the EU could mean that Britain will no longer be privy to Europe’s open borders. Unless the European customs regulations are met, goods could be heavily scrutinised at border control, causing shipments to be delayed. Fear not, though, as the Freight Transport Association (FTA) announced a five-point plan for customs and border arrangements that will keep Britain trading during and after B ...

New Training Incentives for Haulage Companies

Almost all haulage companies will have experienced difficulties in recruiting personnel. If we’re being honest, many will also have shied away from recruiting younger and less experienced people. The IRTE Conference Benefits Haulage Companies

It’s true that the leadership levels within most haulage companies are under stress. As a result, people operating in a leadership capacity aren’t known for having lots of spare time on their hands. There is a ‘nose to the grindstone’ culture that can spring up as a result and the “I’m too busy to leave the office” mind-set can become the order of the day. EU Truck Manufacturers Price Fixing Scandal.

Haulage companies operate in a highly competitive business world where the difference between profit and loss can be marginal. As a result, every aspect of their operations must be carefully considered to find the right balance between cost, quality, service and price. One of the major outlays for any trucking business, after wages, is the cost of their vehicle fleet. This can be a huge outlay, whether it’s for a single truck or an entire fleet.
