Industry comes together for free geospatial webinar series
Webinars covering laser scanning, BIM modelling and more It''s hard to keep up the exchange of knowledge and ideas during these difficult times. That''s why PointCab, known for its easy-to-use point cloud processing software, decided to reach out to experts across the industry and organize a free webinar series for the geospatial community.
The result is one of the biggest webinar series the geospatial community has seen so far. In more than 30 webinars, speakers from different companies like GeoSLAM, FARO, Riegl, NavVis, ClearEdge, or Seiler Industries are sharing their expertise with the audience. From March to June more than 33 speakers are covering a broad variety of topics, like Scan-to-BIM in architectural heritage, extraction of rail models, 3D reconstruction, and as-built modeling, just to name a few. Registration is open to anyone and can be found on the PointCab website.
PointCab?s CEO Dr. Richard Steffen is thrilled by the huge number of speakers who have agreed to take part: ?We weren?t sure how many experts and companies would be willing to participate in our effort when initially coming up with the idea. The vision was to create a cross-industry online event to support the geospatial community during the pandemic. It surely helps that we can offer an independent platform but at the end of the day, we were still asking all speakers to dedicate their valuable time without compensation. That being said, we thought we might get a few responses and could put up a mini-series. Well, we were wrong. Almost everyone was happy to participate and joined immediately thus making this a diverse couple of months with interesting subjects. We are still receiving more responses from additional speakers, so we may even add a few more webinars along the way.
