Sustainability made easy: SKZ develops practical tools for environmental product declarations (EPDs)
(PresseBox) - The SKZ plastics center is providing new digital tools that enable companies to calculate life cycle assessment results for environmental product declarations (EPDs) efficiently and in accordance with standards. The tools are specially tailored to the requirements of the pipe and window industry. The tools are to be used in cooperative pioneering projects for the purpose of EPD creation and verification.
Environmental information along the value chain is becoming increasingly important for companies??especially in the construction industry. Environmental product declarations (EPDs) are gaining in significance as a means of creating ecological transparency for customers and partners. SKZ ?? The Plastics Center now supports companies with newly developed digital tools to efficiently generate well-founded, comparable life cycle assessment results based on international standards such as EN 15804 and ISO 14040/44.

To ensure optimal implementation, SKZ is planning two so-called pioneer projects ?? one for plastic pipes and one for plastic windows ?? and is actively seeking companies that would like to participate. The aim is to ensure the practical applicability and verifiability of company-specific EPDs.
