(PresseBox) - Every year, millions of tourists visit the Valley of the Kings and the Egyptian burial chambers. And archaeologists have been searching for further discoveries there for a long time. They recently discovered the burial chamber of Thutmose II. It is a sensational find, the last tomb of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh from the 18th dynasty. And it is the first time since the discovery of Tutankhamun s tomb in 1922 that a royal tomb has been found in the necropolis on the Nile. Thutmose II ruled Egypt around 100 years before Tutankhamun. A mummy and the once rich grave goods were no longer to be found here. This is because Thutmose II was reburied for fear of flooding and looting was not uncommon thousands of years ago.
But archaeologists in Egypt have discovered an old pot of gold jewelry in the Karnak temple. A gold statue, pearls, amulets, gold rings and necklaces. The burial of the gold jewelry in a pot is still a mystery. Perhaps the treasure was intended to be kept safe in times of political unrest. Archaeologists also recently in Al-Bahnasa made a discovery (Egyptian governorate of Minya). Among other things, they found 13 golden tongues and golden nails. One of the mummies found there was covered in a layer of gold. For thousands of years, gold has stood for a valuable commodity that stands the test of time. Today, investors and central banks, which rely heavily on gold, value the security that gold offers. And the fascination with the precious metal will continue.
