76% aspire a job switch in 2024

ID: 696008

(PresseBox) - As the new year approaches, Swiss recruitment specialist Robert Walters has unveiled its annual salary survey, uncovering some noteworthy trends. An astounding 76% of Swiss professionals intend to switch jobs in 2024. Christian Atkinson, Country Director at Robert Walters Switzerland, sheds light on this remarkable trend.

2024 plans and motives revealed

Robert Walters salary guide reveals that a significant proportion of professionals surveyed (76%) intend to change jobs in 2024. Christian: "Individuals seek a change in their professional life for various reasons. One-third of respondents decide to change jobs to advance their careers, aiming for professional growth through new challenges and opportunities with a different employer.?"

Furthermore, the survey results underscore the impact of leadership and company culture on job-change decisions. A lack of effective leadership motivates 20% of respondents, with Christian explaining: "Poor leadership practices create a demotivating work environment, prompting employees to seek better working conditions elsewhere."

While 39% anticipate a salary increase from their current employer in 2024, 17% consider changing jobs if this expectation is unmet, aiming for a higher salary elsewhere.

Reasons to stay put

However, reasons to stay with their current employer also exist. Of those surveyed, 82% who joined their current employer in the past two years are not planning to leave. Additionally, 52% express satisfaction in their current roles. Competitive salary, cited by one in five respondents, serves as another key factor, with fair reward motivating loyalty. Fringe benefits, mentioned by 19%, such as flexible working hours and health benefits, contribute to job happiness and employer loyalty.

Finally, 15% emphasize the importance of a clear career development plan. Structured professional growth within the organization serves as an incentive for this group to retain their current positions. "A well-thought-out package of fringe benefits including flexible working enhances overall job satisfaction and reinforces the appeal of staying loyal to the current employer?", Christian concludes.
