Almost 100 km of mostly beautiful Atlantic beaches are one of the reasons why Europeans like and visit the smallest country in Africa, but also a friendly population and a - compared to other African countries - low crime rate are among the country s advantages. From November to June it is dry and warm and even in the "rainy season" from July to October there are nice periods without rain showers.
The landscapes along the Gambia River are breathtaking and nature offers wonderful experiences. The cozy Leybato Beach Hotel with its now 17 rooms and cute round huts was founded 40 years ago by the current General Manager Mr. Saihou Demba. The small beach hotel is perfectly located on one of the most beautiful beaches in The Gambia. It is located in the famous Fajara area, 5 km from Banjul, the central capital of The Gambia.
CATERING WAS FOR YEARS THE MAIN ACTIVITY OF LEYBATO
More and more customers of Mr. Demba s snack bar asked for nice but not expensive beach accommodations. So he soon offered a couple of pretty round cabins for guests. Because of the stunning views of the beaches, they were almost always fully booked and provided a new line of business for Mr. Demba s family and staff, who lived near Leybato.
