Drones and also ground-based robots are conquering the world, including mining, especially in traditional metal and gold mines. The robots can crawl, for example, overcome obstacles such as stairs and carry payloads. Equipped with infrared or thermal imaging cameras, they can also take pictures at night and under adverse conditions or inspect surveillance areas. The use of drones is particularly suitable for security applications, for example to prevent theft. They can be deployed quickly and quietly by a small crew. This and many other new technologies are made possible by the use of lithium-ion batteries. Among other things, these need lithium, which has often been desperately sought after. Mining companies such as Alpha Lithium or ION Energy have this in their projects.
