Dr Wolfgang Backhaus was confirmed as President for trolley:motion for a second time.
(PresseBox) - His extensive professional experience - as Senior Partner at Rupprecht Consult, Cologne (Forschung & Beratung GmbH) - in the development of new projects for sustainable mobility, with a focus on the electrification of public transport in all its facets, benefits trolley:motion. Dr Wolfgang Backhaus provides our members with numerous opportunities to present and contribute their solutions for the development of trolleybus systems. Through the development path of numerous projects, which began over 10 years ago with the first Interreg Central Europe project TROLLEY, and his involvement in expert groups, such as the steering board of the Trolleybus Committee of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), he has helped to bring the trolleybus back onto the European stage. Especially in recent years, there have been positive developments for the trolleybus around the combination with batteries and corresponding "in-motion-charging" concepts, and accordingly the trolleybus with battery is also classified as a "zero-emission" vehicle for the implementation of the Clean Vehicle Directive. The technology is proven and mature, ranging from midi trolleybuses to 25-metre-long double-articulated vehicles.
In recent years, trolley:motion has also strengthened the cooperation with the UITP Trolleybus Committee and the Trolleybus Working Group of the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV), which is reflected in joint activities such as events and position papers.
We are glad that Dr Wolfgang Backhaus has once again made himself available for two years as President of trolley:motion and we hope that with him and our members we can continue to shape the positive development around the trolleybus.
